Consecration
To Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Consecration, lived out every day, is the heart of Mary’s Armor and the way every member begins: thirty-three days of preparation, an Act of Consecration, and a life given to Jesus through His Mother.
Why
The message of Fatima, for today
The mission of Mary’s Armor is to fulfil the message of Fatima through consecration to Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to strengthen the First Saturday devotion, and to prepare members worldwide for their spiritual journey to eternal life.
In her message to CelinaMary Okpaleke, Our Lady of Mary’s Armor asks her children for total submission and surrender to the will of God through her: to become her own, and to let her lead them to her Son, Jesus Christ.
“Consecration to my Son Jesus Christ through my Immaculate Heart and to live it out is the key for the eternal salvation.”From the message of Our Lady of Mary’s Armor to CelinaMary Okpaleke
The 33 days
Thirty-three days of preparation
The preparation follows the form given by St. Louis de Montfort: thirty-three days of daily prayer and examination, ending with the Act of Consecration on a Marian feast. Mary’s Armor holds the retreat on its online platform and in person in dioceses and parishes.
Days 1–12
Emptying out the spirit of the world
Renouncing what competes with God for the centre of a life.
Days 13–19
Knowledge of self
Seeing honestly what is actually there, without despair.
Days 20–26
Knowledge of the Blessed Virgin
Her virtues, and how they are lived in an ordinary week.
Days 27–33
Knowledge of Jesus Christ
The whole point, and the destination of everything before it.
After
Living it out
Consecration is not a single day. Our Lady asks her children to live it out, and members of Mary’s Armor keep these practices:
- Total surrender to the will of God through Mary, invoking her name in every activity.
- Daily renewal prayers and weekly prayers.
- The Rosary, with prayer, fasting and penance, as Our Lady asked at Fatima.
- The First Saturday devotion, kept as a community.
- Visits to the Blessed Sacrament, daily if possible.
- Lectio Divina: reading the Word of God contemplatively every day.
- Wearing the brown scapular always.
- The annual renewal of consecration and the annual international conference.
